Frank,
I just read your reply to Craig's posting, and wondered if you ever have this happen: On occasion, especially when I've been cruising at higher speeds like 60-70, when I begin to slow down and go to downshift, it won't happen. The shifter doesn't bring her down a gear, it seems to move about halfway through the stroke then it stops like it's against something metal inside, like it's caught-up and not "finding" the right cog or position. The only way I can get it to move at all and downshift is to ease out the clutch just a hair which causes internal release of the mechanism with a "clunk." All works OK then, but this does happen here and there, and I've never been able to figure out any pattern before it does. I upshift and downshift without aggression and treat my machine very kindly so this is not an occurrence from bike-thrashing. Do you think what you described to Craig is the same thing here ?
